A Note To Make You Smile – Simon IG

Hey there. I have some news to share. Or, more like an update to my recent post.

I’ve thought about everything going on right now, and I think the best thing for me to do is to take a break. I’m not in a good spot, mentally, and need some space. Wow, this sounds way more dramatic than it is.

My day job, which keeps me in stamps and dies, has become extremely stressful. It wouldn’t be so difficult, if I had time to decompress on the weekends. To that end, I need to do what I feel like doing, instead of self imposed deadlines and commitments. I’m still going to write the occasional blog post, but instead of being challenge focused, it will be about what I had fun making. I’m not sure how often it will be. I imagine I’ll take a few weeks off and go from there. Ironically, I just renewed my blog subscription two weeks ago. I’ll still share cards on Instagram too, as I remember to.

Now for something lighter.

Today I have a quick post to share the card I made for the May Simon Says Stamps IG challenge. This month the theme is Flowers. I had some scraps left over from Wednesdays card and had a cool idea.

I don’t have a lot of Rainbow Holographic cardstock, so I trim small pieces when I die cut using it. One of the pieces from Wednesdays card ended up square shaped, so I decided to use it on a card. I centered it one a piece of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock and stamped the matching image from Concord and 9th Filled In Florals with Altenew Hyrangea and Mocha ink.

I layered the Holographic layer with three die cut from scrap Neenah. I added the layered die cuts to the stamped panel, then added a sentiment from Taylored Expressions Simple Strips Background. The card base is Gina K Designs Wild Wistera, and I finished the card with Nuvo Glitter Drops in Honey Gold.

I’ve really enjoyed playing around with holographic cardstock. I’ts been fun, trying to find other ways to use it, besides die cut sentiments.

Thanks for stopping by, and I really appreciate you!
