Hello and welcome back! I have to admit, my first 30 day coloring challenge went by rather quickly. I really enjoyed participating in this challenge. It really inspired me to try new things (and buy some new mediums).
Day 24
I went a very different route today, and colored part of an coloring book page.
I ordered a set of Prismacolor Pencils and they were delivered today. I had to try them out, but I didn’t want to stamp any more images to color (I have a whole binder full from this month). I love the vibrant colors, but I didn’t really go crazy with them.
Day 25
I sort if skipped day 25. Well, I didn’t do any coloring, but I did a ton of card making!
I had gotten some Christmas card ideas from playing around with the Concord and 9th Joyful Bundle, and after making a list of people I need to send Christmas cards too, hyperventilated. Then I started working on the backgrounds and die cuts for some of the cards. I really like the look of the text background stamp heat embossed across a card, with the Joy over top. I played around with a bunch of different color combinations, and ended up with pieces for 9 cards.
Day 26
I used all of my Mama Elephant Plushoween images over the weekend, and had not planned on coloring any more. Then a co-worker asked for a Halloween themed Birthday card.
They are so fun to color, but I was tired after a long day of work. I did end up redoing the vampire. I colored these with Copic markers.
Day 27
I don’t know if I shared this with you, but I have a co-worker who has recently taken up card making. She started doing it on her own, but friends of ours told her that I make cards too, so we are now partners in crime (her husband calls me her enabler lol). A couple of weeks ago we went to Michaels together, and she got a Tim Holtz Sizzix stamp and die set. She kindly stamped and cut some of the bird images.
I love the expressions on their faces! Colored with Copic markers.
Day 28
Another day where I make the argument that ink layering should count as coloring. I just received the set of new pink inks from Altenew (the Cherry Blossom set).
The best stamp I have for testing out sets of ink is this Altenew stamp (Build a Flower Camellia). I LOVE this ink set! Isn’t it yummy? This image only requires three of the four inks. I will post a blog post about the new inks soon. I also have the blue and yellow set.
Day 29
My co-worker that asked for a Halloween themed birthday card also asked for a floral birthday card, and she is partial to Altenew’s Extra Special floral image.
I used dry embossing technique here, and layered Altenew ink (Soft Lilac and Lavender Fields for flowers, Forest Glade and Frayed Leaf for the leaves). Then I added Wink of Stella, which I had just squeezed a little bit to get more out… I even tried scribbling it on scrap paper first. I like the outcome, but glitter is my middle name. And this leads me to…
Day 30
I was afraid that I over did the shimmer on the above card, and I had been meaning to try something new.
I stamped the same Altenew image with Versamark and heat embossed in gold. Then I colored the image with Prismacolor pencils. I can’t believe the stunning results you get with something I put together while cooking dinner. It doesn’t take a lot of skill, just coloring like we did as kids. I’m going to put this together on a card and let my co-worker decide which one she wants.
Like I said, I really enjoyed this month, and am looking forward to the next one.
Thanks for stopping by!
