MFT Sketch Challenge 352

Happy Monday! I hope you had a good weekend. I went a little overboard making cards, more so then normal.

Let me share one with you. It’s been a little while since I participated in a MFT Sketch challenge.

Here is the sketch for this week.

I wan’t sure what exactly to do with the sketch, but I new I wanted the square to be MFT’s Roses All Over paper, so I started there. Then I realized I didn’t have a square that really fit in well with my normal card panel die, so I went with a Stitched Mini Scallop Rectangle instead. After that, I was stumped for awhile. Somehow, I managed to produce this:

After the rose rectangle, I decided to put a strip of Gina K’s Passionate Pink cardstock behind it. Then I was trying to figure out what to do for the circle. I actually had a die cut circle, but it looked awkward.

Then, I remembered the Scribble Roses! I had the outline shape already die cut in white and decided to blend Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink over it. Then I die cut the solid shape in white. I also had the leaves already die cut, so I stamped the outline images on them in Altenew’s Forest Glades. I added the scribble rose with fun foam.

Only thing left to work out was the sentiment. I had some MFT Label Maker Love sentiments, but they were stamped in black. I decided to stamp “Hello Gorgeous,” in Altenew’s Razzleberry. I adhered my card front to a Passionate Pink card base with fun foam, and added a matching envelope (with a scribble rose stamped on the front right corner).

I will admit, I struggle with the sketch challenges. It’s the reason I don’t participate in every one. Even when I do participate, the outcome usually feels awkward to me. Cute for the most part, but not exactly the layout I would have chosen. This one was different. Oh, it was difficult for me. But, I really love the outcome. Out of all the cards I made today, I think this one is my favorite! Funny, my second favorite is the card I made for the Simon Says Stamps Wednesday challenge. The cards I made on my own are ok, but no “wow” factor. I think I’ve been so focused on Christmas cards, I didn’t know what to do without that focus…

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you have a great week!
