Whew, I have no words. Just looking back a week ago, and seeing where we are now. No words. I’m to the point where I need to disconnect from the news for a little bit. Are you with me?
I spent a lot of time in my studio this week, mainly making thank you and encouragement cards for those people keeping the world running while most of us self isolate (ERs, grocery stores, restaurants, etc.). I work in a field that supports our electric infrastructure, but I can do my job from home. So many can’t (including my daughter, who works at a restaurant in Midtown Manhattan). I’ll have more details about these cards on Wednesday, but since one of the cards was inspired by the Simon Says Stamp’s Wednesday challenge, you get a sneak peek.
This week the challenge was to make a card either weather related, or for someone feeling poorly. I imagine a lot of the people supporting us are feeling poorly, tried and mentally drained. The product feature is Lawn Fawn.
I decided to go back to my favorite Fairy Friends. I stamped the house, flowers and fairy with Gina K Designs Jet Black Amalgam ink. Then, I colored the images with Copic markers and die cut them.
Using the Taylored Expressions Masking Rectangle stencil, I created a little scene. I created the clouds by making a cloud stencil using Lawn Fawn’s Puffy Clouds dies, then using the stencil and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink. I added a little bit of Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide ink to the bottom.
I removed the stencil, then played around with the die cuts to figure out the layout. Once I had the image positions figured out, I stamped the sentiment from Lawn Fawn’s Fab Flowers with Altenew Jet Black ink. Then, I used foam tape to adhered the images. I added Wink of Stella Clear shimmer pen to the fairies’ wings and the window. I also added a bit of Glossy Accents to the window.
I added my card panel to a MFT Snow Cone card base, and add the sentiment from Fairy Friends inside the card (the sentiment reads Thank You Fairy Much, but I cut it apart so I could have just Thank You).
It was really nice to color for a little bit, then to put the card together. I think crafting is what is going to get me through this. What about you? What is keeping you somewhat sane?
Thanks for stopping by!
Oh, come back on Wednesday, I something really positive and cool to share!
