Ok, I promised you a post with the cards I made using Concord & 9th’s Christmas Cheer Turnabout. Here it is! I’m going to use a different format than normal, to try to make this post easier to write. As I mentioned on Monday, this is the start of my Christmas series, where I choose one stamp or set to focus on. I’ll mix it with other sets, but all the cards will feature the one same set.
Christmas Cheer by Concord & 9th is not a new stamp. I think it came out in 2017. I know that I didn’t grab it when it first came out, because I was new to stamping, and felt like I had a good assortment of Christmas stamp sets already. I finally snagged this set towards to the end of the season last year. I didn’t get to make a ton of cards with it, as I was getting burnt out on Christmas at that point (I know, I wouldn’t have thought that was possible).
A few weeks ago I had myself a background session, using this stamp and Concord & 9th’s Snowflakes Turnabout (next week’s post). Here are the cards I made. I’m going to share the card, list the items used and the techniques used.
Ok, this one did not turn out as I had planned. I wanted to background to be more green, less yellow. I heated embossed the Turnabout 4 times with Versamark and Wow Opaque White detail powder on Distress Watercolor cardstock. I used Leaf Brusho Crystals for the watercolor.
The tag shape is from C&9’s Holiday Cheer Tags. The sentiment from Very Merry Sentiments. The green glitter cardstock is from MFT’s Holly Jolly glitter pack.
This next panel was created the same way, but instead of using Brusho Crystals, I colored the individual images with watercolors. Most of them are shimmer or mica paints.
The sentiment is from C&9s Holly Berry dies, cut from Tutu glitter cardstock (layered over white cardstock for dimension), with vellum behind. The card base is Gina K Design’s Soft Stone.
For this card and the next, I stamped all 4 turns with Hero Arts Intense Black ink. I colored this panel with Copic markers, and some colored Wink of Stella too. The sentiment is from the Christmas Cheer Turnabout set, with the Ribbon and Banners die. You can get the Ribbon die in a bundle with the Christmas Cheer Turnabout. The “shadow,” for the banner is from MFT’s Holly Jolly glitter. The holly leaves and berries are from Merry and Bright dies.
My favorite feature of this set that pushed me over the edge to buy it, is that it comes with solid stamps you can use to fill in the images. For this card, I used a variety of Altenew & Delicata inks to fill it in. The sentiment and vellum piece are from C&9th Happy Holiday Label dies. The deer image is from C&9th Furry Friends.
This card is from last year. I stamped the turnabout 4 times in a light gray ink, and only filled in some of the images with the solid stamps using Delicata ink. The sentiment is the same from the last card. The ornament is from the Holiday Cheer tags.
There you go, one stamp with five different techniques. One that I haven’t tried yet, which is pretty typical of Turnabouts, would be to stamp it with 4 different colors. Any others that I left out?
