Squidgy Pals!

Hi there! So glad to have you here today. I hope you have some time, today’s post is a long one. I have several cards I’m sharing with you, I just couldn’t help myself! Hopefully this long post makes up for taking the rest of the week off. I needed some time to create for fun, without any pressure! I’ll be back next week with my usual three post. This project started out because I have had Hero Art’s Weird and Wonderful sentiment set since it came out last year. I’ve been dying to use it, but every time I tried, it just didn’t seem to fit the cards I made. Then, Stamping Bella had a sale, and the Squidgy Pals set was included in that sale. As soon as I saw these adorable little squidgys, I knew they would pair perfectly with the Weird and Wonderful stamp set.

I started out this project by stamping the Squidgy Pals several three times (twice with Hero Arts Intense Black ink and once with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink/heat embossed). I colored one set with Copic markers, one set with Altenew watercolors, and left the third black and white. I’m going to share the Copic marker cards first.

I created the background for this card by stamping Concord & 9th’s Herringbone stamp on Gina K Slate cardstock with Altenew Jet Black Ink. I trimmed it down as well as dry embossed it with Hero Arts Infinity dies. I stamped the sentiment from Weird and Wonderful with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Hero Arts Silver embossing powder. I added the panel to a Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock with fun foam.

I think this one might be my favorite. I masked off a little square on a panel of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock, and added clouds with MFT’s Cloud stencil and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink. I die cut some grass using MFT Grass Fields from MFT Limeade cardstock. I blended some Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide ink over the grass. The branch is from The Greetery, Katie’s Cuties Panda. It was stamped with Hero Arts Intense Black in, and colored with Copic markers. I stamped the sentiment with Altenew Jet Black ink.

I added the Squidgy with a tape runner, and the branch and grass with foam tape. The card base is MFT Snow Cone. Isn’t this scene adorable?

This one is pretty cute too. Using Altenew’s Layered Stars dies, I die cute the background from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock, along with MFT Summer Splash, and Concord & 9th Tutu glitter cardstock. I stamped the sentiment with Altenew Teal Cave. The card base is Gina K’s Tranquil Teal. I added Glossy Accents to the glasses.

Now the watercolor cards.

For the background, I used an alcohol ink panel made on Silver Sparkle Yupo cardstock. I trimmed it down to fit a card front. Using MFT Selfie Square as a frame, I added the cute Squidgy. I stamped the sentiment from Weird and Wonderful with Jet Black ink. I added the frame and the Squidgy to the panel with foam tape. The card base is Neenah.

This one was pretty quick to put together, if you exclude adding the foam tape to the back of the frame. I started out by die cutting the tree frame from Hero Arts May 2018 My Monthly Hero kit from Distress Watercolor cardstock. I thought I might watercolor it, but decided not to. I took another panel of watercolor cardstock, added some Nuvo Blue Blitz Shimmer Powder. Then I dried the panel with my heat gun, and stamped the sentiment from Weird and Wonderful. I heat embossed it with Wow Opaque White Detail embossing powder.

I added the frame to the watercolor panel with foam tape, and added my Squidgy with Be Creative adhesive. I added the panel to a Gina K Blue Raspberry card base.

I am so in love with this set! The little Squidys are so cute, and pair so nicely with the Weird and Wonderful sentiment set. Really, they pair well with tons of sentiments.

I made a bunch of Christmas cards using some older Concord & 9th products, mixed with some of the recent release. It was very therapeutic, making a bunch of different backgrounds at one sitting, then turning them into cards. I still have several backgrounds left, too.
