Warmest Wishes-Pinkfresh Studio

Hey there! Welcome to my page 🙂 Today l’m sharing the card I made for the PinkFresh Studio’s September challenge. I’m especially happy with how this card turned out!

This month the challenge is Watercolor/Mixed Media. Here is the inspiration image.

And, here is my card.

I thought, since we are inching into fall, that Happy Hugs would be a good set to use. That and I wanted to try the technique I used a little while ago with the Constellation set. Check out the Instagram post here.

I started out by trimming down a panel of Distress Watercolor cardstock. I placed the panel in my MISTI, and lined up the background stamp from Happy Hugs. I colored the stamp with Distress Markers, sprayed it with water, and closed the lid. I used a little force when I closed the lid (trying to hurry up and keep the watered down ink on the stamp) which causes the splattered look.

I was so excited with the background I got from this technique. The color is gorgeous, it just needed a little something extra. So, I sprayed the card panel with the gold/white shimmer ink spray from an old Hero Arts kit. Check this out!

I love how the gold looks on the watercolor background.

I stamped the image of the two bears on a scrap of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock with Hero Arts Intense black ink, then colored it in with Copic markers. I die cut the image, and added foam tape. When I tested the image on the background, the white border left over from die cutting stood out to much. To fix that I used a Copic marker that matched the background to color the border.

I stamped the sentiment from Happy Hugs on the panel with Altenew Jet Black ink, then added the image with foam tape. I made a card base from Gina K Design Plum Punch and added the watercolor panel with a tape runner

I don’t know if I’ll be able to recreate a background like that, but I will try. I love the color variations so much. This is a fun technique to play with, specially with solid stamps.

Thanks for stopping by!
