We Wish You A Fairy Christmas- Lawn Fawnatics Challenge 60

Hello Friday, and welcome back! So excited for this weekend, I have so much to do around the house. Of course, I’ll be spending time in my studio as well.

Today I have a fun card to share for you. I got the idea when I saw the current Lawn Fawnatics challenge #60, Create a Scene. Not only did I decide to make a scene, but I decided to challenge myself to making a one layered card. Kind or crazy, considering scene cards are usually busy.

Of course, one layer means masking. Not exactly my favorite technique. However, the more I use it, the more I like the outcome.

I started out by laying out my card with the stamps from Lawn Fawn’s Frosty Fairy Friends on a panel of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock. Once I had the layout and knew what I wanted on top, I stamped the sentiment. I decided to heat emboss it as I knew I was going to do some ink blending. I used Versamark ink to stamp the sentiment, then added Wow Opaque White Detail powder and heat embossed it.

Next, I stamped the fairy and also a mask for the fairy, with Hero Arts Intense Black ink. I added the mask, then stamped the little berry tree. I repeated this, stamp and mask, with the house and mushroom. Then I applied the mask and blended ink for the background. I used Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink for the sky, and Iced Spruce for the grass.

When I finished the ink blending, I removed the mask and colored the images with Copic markers. Then, I added some clear lacquer from a Hero Arts kit where I thought there would be snow, and sprinkled on some Lawn Fawn Chunky Glitter (this is my first time using it, and all I can say is expect to see more on future Christmas cards). I added the panel to a Neenah card base with fun foam. Oh, and I spritzed some Shimmer Spay on the card. I guess it’s not technically one layer, with the fun foam. More like no die cutting?

I really enjoyed challenging myself to a one layer card. I want to try to make some more one layer, scene Christmas cards (probably as an excuse for more glitter…).

Thanks for stopping by!
