Looking Sharp-A Blog Named Hero

Happy Tuesday! I know, this is a bit unusual. I took Memorial Day off, as it felt weird writing a blog about cards and posting it on a day meant to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. So, here I am, on a Tuesday!

Today I am sharing the card I made for A Blog Named Hero’s May challenge. This month is a big one for Hero Arts. They are celebrating 45 years in business! When I think back to my scrapbooking days ages ago, I remember Hero Arts being there. They have been instrumental in so many crafters starting on this journey. They definitely should be celebrated! And… that is the theme for this month, celebrate!

I honestly struggled a lot with this card. I shouldn’t have, there are so many things to celebrate, birthdays, anniversaries, new jobs, babies, etc. But, I just couldn’t wrap my head around a card. I wanted to use a set that I haven’t really used as well. I finally settled on the April 2018 My Monthly Hero Kit. Originally I was going to use the “Let’s Party,” sentiment, but I stamped and colored the cacti images, so not sure how I thought that was going to mesh together…

I stamped the cacti and pots in Hero Arts Intense Black ink, and colored them with Copic markers. The cacti had matching dies, but I had to fussy cut the pots.

I die cut a circle from some Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock, and stamped the sentiment from the kit (I thought this one went better with the images).

I had this panel left over from my last session with Nuvo Shimmer Powders (this is Atlantis Burst). I trimmed it down and adde the circle with foam tape. Look at all that shimmer!

I used a Exacto knife to cut little slits in the pots, then tucked the cacti into them. I added the images with a dot runner, and added it all to a Neenah card base. The envelope is Gina K Tranquil Teal.

Pretty simple! Oh, it is a birthday card! I added Happy Birthday to the inside, using stamps from the same kit. I needed some more masculine cards, so this works out in the end.

Have you participated in any of the anniversary activities that Hero Arts is hosting? They have a three day blog hop that features tons of prizes. You have until June 2nd to leave comments for a chance to win. Hero Arts Blog is here.

Thanks for stopping by!
