It was difficult to keep from giggling while I made this card. I absolutely love the sentiment set I used for it. Oops, I’m getting ahead of myself.
First off, thanks for stopping by. I can’t believe people take timeout of their crazy days to read about my crazy days! Today I’m sharing the card I made for this week’s Simon Says Stamps’ Wednesday Challenge. The challenge this week is No Designer Paper, and the product focus is Picket Fences Studios.
I think you guys understand I’m not a big patterned paper fan. Well, let me take that back, I’m not a big fan of using pattered paper. I have to cop to being a hoarder…or I mean collector. I have tons of the stuff. I think it’s pretty. I just never use it for card making.
The more difficult issue was the Picket Fences aspect. Up until a few weeks ago, I didn’t own any of their stamps or dies. But, I stumbled across the I Snorted sentiment set, and that was it. It’s a small stamp set with some snarky, hilarious sentiments. I decided the best way to feature these gems was with the most elegant or sophisticated cards I could make. And so, here we are today!

I figured since the emphasis was on NOT using designer paper, we should still be making an patterned background. Since I had the Everyday Bouquet Turnabout stamp set from Concord and 9th in my “Stuff I need to use,” pile, it was the perfect opportunity!
I stamped the turnabout on some Neenah cardstock using Delicata Silvery Shimmer and Pink Shimmer inks, along with Altenew’s Bamboo and Pink Diamond inks.
I also die cut some of the foliage and floral images from the Everyday Bouquet set from the following cardstocks: MFT Silver Sparkle, Cool As A Cucumber, and Limede; Concord & 9th’s Tutu; Papertrey Ink Raspberry Fizz; and Gina K Design Lucky Clover.

The larger banner piece is from the Everyday Bouquet set, which I die cut from vellum. I was originally going to use the vellum piece for the sentiment, but I felt it was too transparent, even after I added Versamark to the edges and embossed with with Silver embossing powder. I knew that C&9th has some other sets with banner pieces in this shape, so I hunted one down. The smaller shape was cut from MFT Tickled Pink cardstock (I used this for the card base too).
Then, I stamped the sentiment from I Snorted with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Wow Opaque White Detail embossing powder. I added the die cut flowers and foliage to the sentiment strip, then added foam tape and added it to the card.
I added the panel to my card base with a tape runner. And, I’m still smiling over this card. That sentiment! UGH, I love it!
What do you think about the elegant design and snarky sentiment combo? I’d love to hear below!
Thanks for stopping by!
