You Are My Sunshine-MFT Sketch Challenge 421

Welcome back! I’m hoping to shed a little sunshine on this fine Monday morning. Since it has rained for the past 2 days solid here in Florida, it’s going to have to be artificial sunlight. This one based on MFT’s sketch challenge for this week.

I apologize ahead of time for the bad lighting, it really did rain all weekend long.

I started out by die cutting the Sunshine Shaker die from some cardstock blended with Distress Oxide ink, and set the pieces aside. I owe you another apology, I don’t know the color combo. This was from my stash of unused backgrounds and I didn’t note the colors.

Next I trimmed down a Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock panel and added a strip of Gold Brushed Foil cardstock. Then I cut out the circle using the Circle Shaker Window die.

Happy accident: when I ran the panel through my die cutting machine to cut the circle for the panel the strip of Brushed Gold Foil cardstock picked up the texture from the cutting plate, but only where it overlapped with the white cardstock. I was already thinking that the Gold Foil strip needed something to kick it up a bit, but couldn’t think of anything to use.

I used the die cut Distress Oxide Panel to help me position the sun rays correctly and adhered them with liquid adhesive. I added the circle shaker pouch with Scor Tape and then the pouch itself. The sequins mix is from Lucy’s Cards, and I only added a little bit.

I almost always seal my shaker pouches with acetate. I do this because it makes it a lot easier if you want to line up the shaker element with a background or image. In this case, I used the center circle left over from the Sunshine Shaker as the background for the shaker element.

The sentiment is from MFT’s Full of Sunshine, stamped with Versamark ink and embossed in gold. I then blended a little bit of Dried Marigold Distress Oxide ink around the edges to give it a little boost (it looked so stark when plain white).

To finish the card I added the panel to a Gina K Designs Coral Reef card base. I wanted to use MFT’s Poppy (my new favorite) but it was a little to dark.

This weekend ended up being rainy, but also full of MFT! Check back on Wednesday to see the 2 cards I made for this week’s Simon Says Stamp’s Wednesday challenge, with a MFT as the product focus. I’m particularly taken with one of the cards!

Thanks for stopping by!
