Welcome back! Today I am excited to share the card I made for Altenew’s January Inspiration challenge. I love the colors for this month’s challenge!
Here is the Inspiration image:
It took me a while to figure out what to do this month. I finally decided to use watercolor this time. I was actually going to do a messy watercolor look, but as you can see, I switched it up.
I really wanted the colors to be more vibrant, especially the red, but I was afraid to continue messing with it.
I started out by stamping the outline image of the flower from Ornamental Flower with Versaclair Nocturne ink and embossing with clear embossing powder. I masked the flower, stamped the leaves with the same ink, and heat embossed with Wow’s Holographic Sparkle embossing powder.
I colored the flower using Altenew’s Crimson and Autumn Blaze watercolors. The leaves are Emerald. Oh, I’m using Distress Watercolor cardstock (forgot to mention that earlier).
The sentiment is one of my favorites from Altenew, from the Build a Rose set. It was also stamped with Versaclair Nocturne ink and embossed with clear powder.
Once the panel was dry I die cut it using Concord and 9th’s Confetti Card die. The panel was added to a card base made from MFT’s Poppy cardstock using fun foam. To finish of the card I added some Strawberry gems from Lucy’s Cards.
I really like the pop of sparkle the Holographic Sparkle embossing powder adds! I just wish the watercolor was a tad more vibrant. I’ll figure it out, someday!
Thanks for stopping by!
Nicole
