Challenges · Making Cards

Sparkle & Shine-Hero Arts

Hello! I’ve somehow survived this week and might, possibly, slightly feel better. Lol I won’t be running anything marathons, but I’m managing.

Thankfully I made this card the weekend before, so I have something to share with you! This card is for the A Blog Named Hero’s August challenge, Sparkle & Shine! How could I resist this one!

I was totally inspired with the design for this card, and couldn’t wait to make it! I went to my favorite My Monthly Hero kit, and my favorite Nuvo Shimmer powders.

I started out by stamping the Pretty Moon Spiral Bold print stamp with Versamark ink on Distress Watercolor cardstock, then added Hero Arts Silver embossing powder and heat embossed the image. Once it cooled off I sprinkled Violet Brocade and Storm Cloud Nuvo Shimmer powders and sprayed with water, soaking the panel. Then I set it aside to dry.

While the panel was drying I stamped the image from Dream Big, an add on to the August 2017 MMH kit with Hero Arts Intense Black ink and colored it with Copic markers, and a little Wink of Stella. I die cut the Hello from the March 2018 MMH kit three times and glued them together. I stamped the “up there,” from one of the sentiments from Dream Big in Altenew’s Jet Black ink and trimmed it down.

Once the panel was dry I put the card together. I added the die cut sentiment to the center of the card, with the sentiment strip layered on top using foam tape. Then I added the moon to the corner with more foam tape. I added the watercolor panel to a Neenah Classic Crest Solar White card base, and a matching metallic envelope from Simon Says Stamps.

This card is so cool in person! The shimmer, and the tie die like affect from the powders are stunning! I was so excited that it turned out just as I had envisioned it.

Hopefully I’ll get some energy back and be able to create some new cards this weekend. I miss my craft studio!

Speaking of craft studio, I filmed a craft studio tour the weekend before, but when I went to edit it I realized that I had the camera oriented incorrectly… I was going to film a new tour Labor day weekend, but my voice went south in addition to being sick. I’m not a big fan of my normal voice, but taping a tour with the sniffles and rasps, it would have been torture. I still don’t have my voice back and it’s Friday morning, so I don’t think it will happen this weekend either. But, I promise that as soon as I can, I will film a studio tour!

Thanks for stopping by!
