Making Cards · Rambling

Mama Elephant Spree!

So, I went on a bit of a Mama Elephant spree this past weekend! I saw a post on Instagram for an Guest Design team call, and I thought I would apply. Since I had some of their images already colored, I decided to make some new cards.

Of course, I started with the dragons!

The images on my first card are from the Me and My Dragon and Dragon wishes sets, and were colored with Copic markers. I added dots with white and black gel pens for texture, and some clear Wink of Stella for shimmer. There is also black glaze on the eyes.

I started the card by stenciling clouds using MFT’s cloud stencil and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink with a blending brush (I’m so glad they finally released Tumbled Glass).

I die cut some clouds from white cardstock and MFT’s Silver glitter cardstock using Paper Smooches’ cloud dies. I layered the white over the silver and adhered them to the card panel. Then I added my dragons with foam tape. The sentiment is for the Dragon’s Wishes set, and was stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with Hero Arts Silver embossing powder. The card base is MFT’s Snow Cone.

My next card features the final piece of that Distress Ink and Nuvo Moonstone Glitter Paste panel as the anchor for two dragons from Dragon Wishes. These two dragon’s were colored the same as above.  The sentiment is from the same set, and was stamped with Altenew’s Jet Black ink.

I stamped several hearts from Mama Elephant’s Rain or Shine set several times with Delicata’s Ruby Red ink, die cut them and adhered them to the card. I added Glossy accents as well (it’s still wet in the pictures above). The card base is Gina K Design’s Blue Raspberry with a matching Simon Says Stamps’ Island Blue envelope.

While I had the Rain of Shine set out, I made a third card.

I started out by blending a ton of ink on this panel! First I created the clouds with MFT’s cloud stencil and Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide ink and a blending brush. Then I masked off the bottom and used Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide ink. Last off, I masked the grass and blended my new favorite Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink.

Then I laid out my previously colored images (Copic makers). Then I stamped the little rocks and grass tufts. I added my images with foam tape, as well as the sentiment.

As I mentioned, I made these cards, planning to enter the open call for guest designers. Then I made the mistake of looking up the other entries on Instagram and now I’m not so sure. There are some great images out there. Not to mention, I don’t have a ton of Mama Elephant sets… I’ll have to think about it. I’d hate to not apply, just because I don’t think I’m good enough. Should I apply?

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Q00% apply. What’s stopping you? I know you say the others are good, but yours are just as good. Don’t lack confidence please, just go for it. What’s the worst thing that can happen? So you .if it not get through to the DT this go, but if you don’t try you’ll never be In one.
Very good luck to you (if I were picking someone to be on my DT I’d pick you 😉) xx
