Emboss Resist, with Black!

Hello! Does this ever happen to you? You are lying awake at night, unable to sleep because you have card designs, or some other creative idea, running through your head? That happened too me this weekend!

I’ve been coming across several videos with ink blending and cards using emboss resist. And of course, I have to take an idea and do something different with it. So, what about emboss resist, with black embossing powder, instead of white?

I decided to use the Pretty Moon Spiral Bold Print background, as it’s such an interesting stamp.

As you can see, I masked off the center part of a panel of Gina K Design’s Onyx Black cardstock and then stamped the background with Versamark ink and added Hero Arts Black embossing powder.

After I melted the powder I masked the area off again, and blended Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide ink over the embossing.

See how the ink makes the embossing stand out! It’s super cool!

I decided to use the February My Monthly Hero kit for the rest of the card. I stamped one of the birds and the branch image with Versamark ink and embossed with Hero Arts Silver powder. Then I used the matching dies to cut them out. I added them to the blended panel with foam tape.

The sentiment is from the same kit, and was also heat embossed in the same silver. I use MFT’s Stitched Fishtail banners to die cut the sentiment and the bigger one with MFT’s Silver Sparkle cardstock and layered them. I added the sentiment with foam tape too.

I added the card panel to a Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock card base, and added Studio Katia Silver gems.

I know, it’s a little different, but I think it’s fun! What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by!
