Happy Wednesday! I can’t believe tomorrow is Thanksgiving! Where did 2017 go?
I’m a little bummed, as I put my daughter Caitlin on an airplane on Monday, to spend Thanksgiving with her Dad. Their whole family is getting together, which does’t happen very often. I’m happy that she gets to spend time with that side of her family, but I miss her. In the past 19 years, this is only the 2nd Thanksgiving without her.
On the plus side, my son Daniel stayed home. That is another item with a good side and a bittersweet side. I wish he had a better relationship with his Father, but I can’t force it. He’s old enough to make his own choices. So, he and I will chill out over Thanksgiving. We’ve been talking about the food since last week :).
I have the option of going to my sister’s house for Thanksgiving, but I feel it in my bones that I want to stay home and build a fort with Danny, or something equally ridiculous. He’s 16, almost 17. He’s almost fully baked. I need to focus on him.
Anyway, the post title says something about a card challenge, so here we go!
I came across the Creativity Meets C9 Challenges on Jessica Frost-Ballas’ Instagram. And, of course, you all know how obsessed I am with Concord and 9th. To top it off, this challenge is Christmas or winter!
Here is my card:
I stamped the large ornament image and the large sentiment from Concord and 9th’s Ornamental bundle on to watercolor paper and then heat embossed it in gold. I used the Gansai Tambi Pearlescent watercolor paints to fill in the image. I die cut the image and used foam tape to add the ornament to a Neenah Classic Crest Solar White panel, and then layered it on MFT’s Snow Cone card base. I added a matching envelope stamped with the poinsettia image from the set. I finished the card with Nuvo Glitter drops in Ruby Slippers.
This design was one that was floating around in my head for a while. When I painted this panel, I made a bunch of other panels using the large sentiments from MFT’s Handwritten Holiday. Then my cat came by, and knocked my drink over to let me know she wanted me to stop crafting… The juice got on several of the panels, and made the colors run. I tried to save the one by die cutting it instead. I think its ok, but the perfectionist in me is struggling with it. But, the more I tried to fix the other panels, the worse they got. So, I’m going to let this go.
