Hero Arts November 2017 Kit-Unboxing

Welcome back! I wanted to write a quick post to share the new My Monthly Hero kit with you! This kit is full to the brim with Christmas goodness, especially if you like to make tags!

This is what is included in the kit (sorry, it’s sold out).

►6×8 Clear Set
►4 Tag Dies
►4 Shape Dies
►60 Assorted Gift Tags (ornament, star, tree & snow flake: colored, Kraft, white)
►10 yards of red & white baker’s twine
►2 Delicata Ink Cubes (Golden Glitz + Celestial Copper)

And here is the box!

And some close-ups of the items:

Theses are the dies included in the kit. The large star, snowflake, tree and ornament all have holes at the top of the dies, so you can cut out tags. The smaller images are perfect for the sentiments.

The kit comes with several pre cut tags, in different colors.

The stamp set includes a ton of great winter sentiments! Makes me glad I was lazy and procrastinated stamping messages on the inside of most of my Christmas cards! Now I have so many more choices!

I love the “Merry Christhanukwanzivus!” I think “Happy Winter,” and “Warmest Wishes,” are great too, perfect for non-holiday winter cards. “Happy Everything,” is a great year round sentiment.

Not only are their lots of great sentiments, but also the same sentiments but in different fonts and styles (more on that below). The kit also includes “to:” and “from:” stamps as well, which are perfect for making tags!

I’ll be making my own gift tags this year, as well as tags for co-workers (I made the mistake of showing them this kit lol).

I was really excited about the ink cubes in this month’s kit.

The Delicata ink is a beautiful metallic pigment ink. It’s not meant for embossing, but rather to stamp on its own. Check out the shimmer you get from the gold!

I was so excited about this ink that I ordered cubes in Ruby Red and Silver too. I can’t wait to play with them, especially with these intricate patterned stamps.

Hero Arts always packages there kits with ribbon. This month they used twine, and included some in the kit as well.

The red and white twine was included in the kit, and the green and white was the packaging. These will be great as a finishing touch on the tags.

In addition to my normal unboxing, I wanted to take a few minutes to point out some things I noticed about the kit (besides the really cool ink).

The different styles of sentiments fit perfectly in the different die cut shapes. Here are a couple of pairings that hit me right off the bat. I thought that little circle would be too small for any sentiments, but I was wrong. The smaller scripted “cheer, Peace & Love, Enjoy, Peace and For you,” sentiments fit in the circle.

The “Love,” stamp that I have in the large ornament die fits in the small oval, just like the “Joy,” stamp. The other stamps with that font fit in the rectangle die

And, the longer sentiments like “Happy Everything,” and “Merriest Wishes,” fit into the rectangle shape. They fit nicely on the tags too!

I will admit, I wasn’t really feeling this kit at first. I’m not a big tag person. Once I got this kit in my hands, that all changed. I couldn’t sleep last night because I kept thinking about all the things I could do with it. I have some pretty cool card ideas I can tackle this weekend. I would have made something tonight, but, I lent the kit to my co-worker (Tina) so that I would write this blog post and not procrastinate again. A different co-worker decided we were going to  make cards for my boss to hand out for the Holidays. Tina lugged her die cutting machine to the office so we could use it during our lunch breaks the last two days (I brought mine in as well). As a way of saying “thanks,” I let Tina have the first shot at the MMH kit. She’s my only real life crafty friend. Even though our styles are different, it’s fun to share crafting with someone.

Anyway, that is the November My Monthly Hero kit from Hero Arts! If you aren’t already a subscriber, I highly recommend it. It really is a great price for everything you get ($34.99 for all this). If you subscribe, your guaranteed to get a kit, and they sell out quickly otherwise! Even the kits that I wouldn’t necessarily buy if it wasn’t part of the subscription, I still get my moneys worth with all the accessories. And, honestly, the kits do grow on me, just like this one did. You also are exposed to new products you might not have picked up on your own. In this case the Delicata ink. And if you read the previous blog post, you know how much I love the ink mist from the Celestial kit!

Stay tuned to the blog for an upcoming post with projects made using this kit. I can’t wait to play with it, once (if lol) I get it back. Keep an eye on my Instagram as well, you might get a peek at the cards there before they make it to the blog.

Thanks for stopping by!

Nicole
