Hero Arts MMH August Kit Cards

I  made a couple of cards this weekend with the new Hero Arts My Monthly Hero kit, and the add on items I picked up. This kit is fabulous, with tons of great sentiments!

Here is the first card I made. This is with images from the add on kit Dream Big, and a sentiment from the kit stamp set.

I used Gina K In the Navy cardstock, and sprayed it with the ink sprays included in the kit. Isn’t it gorgeous?!?! I have a whole post on these sprays, and some backgrounds I made coming soon.

I stamped the star image and the twinkle image in Versamark ink and heat embossed in either silver or gold. The sentiment was heat embossed in gold.

I colored the moon and sheep images with Copic markers and adhered them to the card panel with foam tape.

Check out the shimmer in that background! I love how the color of the spray changes when you tilt it around. I also added a bit of Wink of Stella to the clouds.

My second card was a collaboration with my daughter Caitlin. She is the reason I picked up the add on items. She loves outer space, planets and all of that stuff. This card is for her best friend’s 18th birthday.

She loved the moon image I had colored, so that became the center piece of the card. She also loved a panel of white cardstock I had tried out the ink sprays on, specifically the little tiny mist drops.

I made a panel trying to only get tiny drops on the outside (much more difficult then it sounds). The spray nozzle on my blueberry mist spray broke (with my heart…) so I ended up with some splotches, but not a big deal.

I used some of Lawn Fawn’s Black Licorice cardstock and stamped the Pretty Moon Spiral Bold Prints background stamp, which was an add on, in Versamark ink, and heat embossed with clear powder. I stamped the sentiment from the kit on some Black Licorice cardstock, and heat embossed it in silver. The moon and sentiment were adhered to the card with foam tape. I finished the card off with a Black Licorice card base, and stamped “Happy Birthday,”  in Versamark ink and heat embossed in silver on the inside.

See how some of the bigger drops of the spray look gold and silver when you tilt the card. I love it!!

My third card was made using the fancy window die from the kit, along with the little girl with balloon strings, and a sentiment from the Dream Big add on kit. I used the sprays again, but this time I sprayed them on watercolor paper that was sprayed with water. I covered the panel completely with the sprays. Then I let it dry.

I cut the fancy window out of Gina K Designs Moonlit Fog cardstock and adhered the ink spray panel behind it. And then realized I needed to stamp the sentiment on it… I stamped the sentiment in Versafine Black Onyx ink and heat embossed carefully with clear power. I used a ton of my embossing magic tool to make sure the powder didn’t stick to the background. I didn’t have issues with the embossing powder, but it was as raised and shiny as normal on the ink spray background.

I used the Moonlit Fog cardstock to stamp the image of the little girl with Versafine Black Onyx ink and embossed with clear powder. The matching die that was included in the kit only cuts out the little girl, so I did a partial die cut with most of her body, then fussy cut the rest. I adhered her to the card with black foam tape. I used a In the Navy card base to complete the card.

Look at all that shimmer in the background! I love that shade of blue too!

I’m really enjoying this kit! I spent probably half the day today playing around making backgrounds. I’ll share those and a closer look at these backgrounds in a upcoming post.

Thanks for stopping by!
