Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Challenge-Summer Sunshine

Good morning! This week the challenge was Summer Sunshine, using Simon Says Stamps products. What’s more summery then flowers and weddings? I decide to use the Floral Bliss stamp set, but to use the smaller single images instead of the large image. I also decide to test out my new Mica Sprays (post coming soon).

I used the MFT Stitched Rectangle Scallop Edge Frames in the largest size to cut out the rectangle and frame. I left them together because I wanted the shape. I wasn’t planning on using this panel for the SSS challenge. My plan was to end up with a circle of concentrated Vibrant Turquoise Mica Spray, but that didn’t quiet work out. Instead I ended up with very damp paper. I wiped off the moisture and sprayed the Brushed Pewter instead. The paper warped a bit, as you can see in the picture. But I’m stubborn and I couldn’t bring myself to throw it away.

Back on track :). So I masked off the circle and as I mentioned, eventually sprayed the pewter spray. I left the panel to air dry, and started on the other elements. I stamped the flowers with MFT Black Licorice Hybrid colored them with Copic Markers. Since I knew I was going to fussy cut them, I was very messy coloring. It was a bit liberating and I played around. I added accents with colored Wink of Stella markers (pink, blue and green). Then I cut out the pieces. Once I was done cutting out everything, the paper was dry.

I played around with the layout I wanted, moving the pieces around. Once I was happy with the layout I took a picture with my phone.

Then I removed the flowers and stamped my sentiments. I stamped them with black Versafine Ink, and heat embossed in clear.  Next I started gluing down elements. I used my Xyron sticker maker for the bottom layer. For the large pink flower, the yellow and purple flowers on the bottom and the blue flower on the top I used clear foam tape to add a bit of dimension.

I adhered the panel to fun foam to try to make it lay flat and then a Neenah Solar White card base. I used tons of Scor-tape too. Then I added Silver Confetti sequins for accents. I also added Nuvo drops to the flower centers.

It wasn’t exactly what I envisioned this morning, but the circle of mica spray is really pretty. It has the look of spray paint, but shimmery. Next time I’ll use watercolor paper if I want to use that much. I made a card earlier where I wasn’t going for such a concentrated look, and it didn’t mess up the paper. It was 100% operator error!

I will write a post about the mica sprays. They are great, especially on dark card stock. And I go into greater detail about what I attempted (there are some pictures lol).

Thanks for stopping by!
