And now the saga of the watercolor Mandala…
It took me all week to write about my adventures with this card because I needed time to recover. I’m not sure what was really going through my head when I made this card, but I”ll give you a sneak peak into the inner chaos.
What I REALLY wanted to do was stamp this image on black paper and paint it. But, for some reason I had it in my head that I HAD to used watercolor paper. Ok so I’ll stamp it on the watercolor paper, use the big die to cut an opening out of black card stock and layer it over the watercolor paper. I can handle that. It took me 5 times to get the black card layer right. I kept cutting it too narrow, just all sorts of silly mistakes.
THEN, for some reason, I decided I was going to use the “Mr. & Mrs.,” sentiment, making this a wedding card… How can I use black on a wedding card? Instead I ended up using Neenah White Silver metallic paper…
After I layered the watercolor paper and White Silver, I realized the front looked empty. So I die cut “Congratulations,” 4 or 5 times from white card stock and layered them together, using Multi Matte Medium. And added Wink of Stella. I tucked some vellum hearts under the sentiment.
This is what I ended up with. After what felt like forever!
I really like the dimension you get from layering the die cut sentiment. I didn’t use all that much water, so I think next time I am going to try this on regular card stock.
Hopefully I will have kicked this cold and whatever else is messing with my creativity this coming weekend and will be back to normal. I wonder if maybe I am overwhelmed with all the choice I have in stamps. I kinda do feel like I don’t know where to go next. Maybe it’s just the persistent headache.
Thanks for sticking around!
